STUFF

STUFF (Artwork Sophie Dean) [Image Description: drawings of buildings, a car, bus stop, tree and a large hand. Collaged inlays of photos of teens throughout the landscape and cityscape]

STUFF,100 Watt’s new creation in development, will premiere at the Great Canadian Theatre Company May 1 – 4 2024. Limited seating, so grab your tickets by clicking HERE!

STUFF is about…our stuff. No, really. It’s about our attachment to material possessions, consumption, and this confusion between want, need and greed. Meanwhile, this great thing that helps us breathe, Earth, is paying the price: landfills burst, the climate crisis rages… But you know all this! So imagine a time in the future (that could be any day now) in which teens all over the world (TTF’s, Teenage Task Forces) unite with one goal: to eliminate stuff. And ,,,that’s all we’ll say for now. No, one last thing: yes, STUFF is about being human: the “I am because I have”, power imbalances, “I gotta belong”, and the hard hard heartbreak of letting go.

STUFF began thanks the National Arts Centre and its development is now supported by the Great Canadian Theatre Company. You can read more about STUFF’s beginning on NAC’s website if you click here!

100 Watt gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the City of Ottawa and the Ontario Arts Council for STUFF’s development, and to the GCTC for supporting its road to premiere in May 2024. The 100 Watt Youth Ensemble are GCTC Resident Artists.
